Ray D’Arcy announces the return of The Den – after Comic Relief sketch went down a hit with viewers

This is so exciting!

Ray D’Arcy has officially announced the return of The Den.

Back in June, the broadcaster reunited with Dustin The Turkey and Zig & Zag for a Den reunion, as part of RTÉ Does Comic Relief.

The sketch went down a hit with viewers, so RTÉ have decided to bring the show back as a weekend programme.

Ray confirmed the news during his RTÉ Radio 1 show this afternoon, and said The Den will be back on our screens from November 8th, at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

Ray said: “The Den will return in November! We’re on in the lead-up to Christmas. We’re there for the boys and girls and parents and inviting them to do all the thing they used to, and more!”

“It’s all very exciting and I can’t wait to be on telly with the boys again. People out there need a bit of mayhem, madness and boldness and that’s what we hope to deliver.”

Zig & Zag added: “33 years after we started, we’re going back on the telly live!”

The Den first aired in 1986, and was hosted by Ian Dempsey until 1990, when Ray took over.

Ray hosted the popular programme for eight years, before Damien McCaul took over as host from 1998 – 2003.

After a series of revamps and changes to the format, the show was eventually axed in 2010, after nearly 24 years on air.

On this week’s episode of Goss Chats, Goss.ie CEO Ali Ryan chats with award-winning makeup artist and MRS Glam creator, Michelle Regazolli Stone.

The celebrity MUA opens up about the ups and downs of living through the pandemic, and how her makeup range saved her.

#GossChats is sponsored by top Irish aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve.
