Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding WON’T be returning to Irish or Ulster rugby teams

Following the completion of the IRFU’s internal review, Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding will not be returning to the Ireland squad.

Both players remained suspended pending an internal review after they were acquitted of rape following a very public nine-week trial. The review has concluded that both players’ contracts are revoked with immediate effect.

Sponsors of the national team had expressed their concerns about the players’ behaviour regardless of the jury’s decision back to management and the Independent claim that the internal review centred on Whatsapp messages sent by the players.

The internal review was said to have finished on Wednesday and the Independent report the players were informed then that they would not be returning to the squad.

News broke on Thursday that Paddy Jackson would be trying to recover his legal costs from the Public Prosecution Service, perhaps due to the termination of his work with the IRFU.

More details of the trial came to light this week when restrictions were lifted on media reporting.

In response to the four accused being acquitted #IBelieveHer/#WeStandWithHer protests erupted all over the county.
