Fashion designer Michael Costello publicly slams Kylie Jenner on Instagram

The Project Runway star has criticised Kylie for not crediting lesser-known designers

Fashion designer Michael Costello has publicly slammed Kylie Jenner on Instagram.

The 37-year-old took issue with the reality star, after she thanked Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing for making her “the most perfect bday dress” earlier this week.

After Kylie shared a social media post thanking Olivier, Michael commented: “Thank you Oliver for the perfect bday dress. And thank you to the no name designers who work tirelessly around the clock on custom looks who she won’t tag , mention or @ . . . Unless it’s paid.”

“And thank you to the glam team who always gets tagged no matter what . ( this post has nothing to do with me as Kylie only wears something from me once a year and I’m lucky if i get a decent pic to post.”

The Project Runway star continued: “No shade to any of her team who styles her and no shame to the glam team. Even though we know you can not wait to unfollow me and drag me for filth!”

“But it’s sad that designers work so so so so hard on these opportunities to dress these gorgeous popular women and they only tag the major high end designers like Oliver but forget about the other ones.

“( this has nothing to do with my brand ) but it definitely has a lot to do with the la designers why not tag at least one ? Not all the time but maybe once in a while.”

In a statement to Page Six, Michael explained: “I’m tired of privileged celebrities and influencers with millions of followers who will only mention, tag or credit a few designers who pay them.”

“It is not right that they also demand thousands of other designers, who are just as equally if not more talented, to drop everything at a call to make them pieces that end up being rack fillers.”

He continued: “I have a fantastic relationship with a few stylists and celebrities who not only appreciate my time but credit my work and pay my staff. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of influencers and celebrities who take advantage of their privilege by trying to get my team to drop all projects, work for free and end up not wearing/not crediting the work.”

“I am a firm believer that credit should be given where credit is due,” he concluded. “They need to start acknowledging every single person who has worked tirelessly around the clock that helped to get them to where they are.”

This isn’t the first time Kylie has come under fire for not tagging designers.

Last month, fans accused her of “refusing” to give credit to black-owned label Loudbrand Studios.

The 23-year-old came under fire after she posted photos of herself modelling an orange dress from the brand on Instagram.

While Kylie didn’t initially tag the brand, fans noticed that the dress was made by LoudBrand Studios, a black-owned business based in the UK.

Fans took to the comment section to urge Kylie to tag the brand, and it wasn’t long before people started accusing her of ignoring people’s comments.

Twitter user @zoeyy227 then tweeted: “Kylie Jenner is refusing to tag the designer of the dress she just posted, which is a black owned brand, and now limiting her comments. @LoudBrndStudios is the designer!”

Much to their surprise, Kylie responded by tweeting: “Ok this is just a reach. Why would I ever REFUSE to tag a brand and block comments. This is completely false.”

“I think this brand is amazing and I wanted to show support and will continue to do so. Everyone go check out @LoudBrndStudios,” she added.

LoudBrand Studios later praised Kylie and her stylist Jill Jacobs for giving them a shout out.

They tweeted: “Hi guys!!!! We are so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love wow !!! We are so grateful for Jill and Kylie because this has really changed things for us so excited to be featured on her platform how amazing !!! Thank you so much Jill and Kylie.’

Kylie retweeted the message, writing: “Love you guys!!!!!!!!”
