EXCLUSIVE! MK predicted Avicii’s death

MK plays the 3Arena in Dublin tonight and he caught up with Goss.ie ahead of his huge gig.

Mark Kinchen’s iconic Area 10 party series returns to the capital tonight and he’s brought friends Jax Jones, Lee Foss and Glasgow’s KC Lights along to dabble on the decks with him.

Chatting in front of another music legend, the statue of Phil Lynott, the LA-based producer spoke about how he predicted the death of Avicii who died by suicide last month. Laidback Luke publicly stated, back in 2016, that he was worried Avicii would die in his twenties and MK echoed his concerns.

“I actually said that to myself also about Avicii, ‘I don’t know how long he’s going to last.'”

The 45-year-old went on to discuss how he makes sure the DJ lifestyle doesn’t get the better of him saying, “You just have to really make an effort to balance it. It can easily just go haywire, from doing show after show after show, party after party.”

“And you know, basically, you are the party when you show up, and then no one wants you to leave and everybody wants you to party after with them, and then the next day! And you do it again, another city. It’s non-stop!”

“You have to really think about it and kind of guide yourself.”

The creator of the hit track 17 cites exercise and healthy eating as things that help him stay balanced.

“I try to eat well. I try to exercise as much as I can when I’m not in the studio.”

He spoke about how his intense workload is his main barrier to exercising, “That’s usually what keeps me from exercising… It keeps me kind of locked in the studio. Like sometimes I have my workout equipment in my studio, like weights or something so I can do something. But yeah, it gets hard.”
