EastEnders confirm the departure of THIS star after six years on the show

Davood Ghadami’s departure from EastEnders has been confirmed, after six years playing Kush Kazemi on the soap.

The actor will leave Albert Square in 2021, with a “huge plot planned” for his departure.

An EastEnders spokesperson told Metro: “We can confirm Davood will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end next year.”

An insider also told the publication: “Bosses have a huge plot planned but although Davood was told in January, his departure it is not for a very long time yet in fact Kush will be on screen until well into 2021.”

Kush has recently entered into a relationship with EastEnders’ legend Kat Slater on the show, and the character was previously married to Shabnam Masood – played most recently by Rakhee Thakrar.

Davood’s departure comes just weeks after actor Jake Wood also announced he was leaving the soap, after playing longtime resident Max Branning for 15 years.

Confirming his departure after The Sun broke the news, Jake said: “I’ve had 15 wonderful years at EastEnders and have made some truly great friends.”

“I’ll, of course, miss everyone there but I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what the next chapter holds.”

Executive producer Jon Sen said of the shocking departure: “Jake is a truly wonderful actor and EastEnders have been extremely lucky to have him for so long.

“We have a big storyline for Max that starts in the coming weeks and we are all very excited to see that play out.”
