Conor McGregor in police custody after turning himself in to NYPD

Conor McGregor is in police custody in New York after turning himself in following a disturbance at a UFC223 media event.

Dana White, UFC President, said a warrant had been issued for the fighter’s arrest yesterday after he attacked a bus of fighters a day after the news was confirmed that he would be stripped of his lightweight belt this weekend, as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway will fight to claim it.

The incident resulted in a smashed bus window, which reportedly left lightweight contender Michael Chiesa with a laceration to his forehead.

The Dubliner was told by Dana to hand himself in to the police or his plane wouldn’t be allowed to leave New York.

Conor has since heeded advice and a spokesperson from the NYPD has confirmed he is in their custody while investigations proceed.

As a result three fights have been cancelled this weekend among the changes to the card include Artem Lobov being withdrawn from his fight after he was involved in the incident with Conor.

Dana told TMZ, “He’s obviously not fighting this weekend.”
