7 Most Shocking Celebrity Splits

Goss.ie is celebrating seven years in business this week.

To mark the occasion, we have taken a look back at seven celebrity couples that broke our hearts when they announced their split.

Take a look:

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan announced their split in April 2018, following eight years of marriage.

The former couple met on the set of the film Step Up in 2005, in which they played star-crossed lovers.

They went on to marry in 2009, and share a daughter named Everly together.

Sharing their break-up news via Instagram, the pair wrote: “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.”

“Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”

Gwyneth Paltrow got married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin back in 2003 after a year of dating.

The actress and the musician raised two children together – their 17-year-old daughter Apple and their 15-year-old son Moses.

The couple announced their divorce in 2014 after ten years of marriage, which they famously described as “consciously uncoupling”.

Gwyneth is now married to American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk, who she first met in 2010 after working together on Glee.

Chris has been dating actress Dakota Johnson for three years, and they recently moved in together.

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler announced their separation in April last year after 10-years of marriage.

The former couple exchanged vows in 2013 after getting engaged twice, and share three children together.

The reality stars also starred in their own reality TV show, Very Cavallari, together on E!

Announcing their split via Instagram, Kristen wrote: “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce.”

“We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart.”

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris met on the set of film Take Me Home Tonight in 2007 and got engaged the following year.

The Hollywood stars tied the knot in 2009, and welcomed one child together – a son named Jack.

In 2017, the couple announced they were splitting after seven years of marriage in a joint statement.

They said: “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.”

Chris went on to marry Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, and the couple welcomed their first child together in August last year – a baby girl named Lyla Maria.

The couple separated in 2015, before filing for divorce two years later.

In an interview with The New York Times, Ben admitted that his split with Jennifer was the “biggest regret” of his life.

Ben has recently been romantically linked with his ex Jennifer Lopez, who he got engaged to in 2002.

The former couple, who called it quits in 2004, have been hanging out since J-Lo’s split from Alex Rodriguez.

In the months leading up to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s divorce being finalised, there was intense media speculation surrounding Brad’s relationship with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.

Angelina and Brad dated for seven years before announcing their engagement in 2012.

The couple tied the knot in 2014, before Angelina filed for divorce in 2016 – citing “irreconcilable differences”.

After a lengthy court battle, a judge granted them both legal single status on April 12, 2019 while finalising their divorce.

Brad was granted joint custody of the couple’s six children last week – Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Kim Kardashian filed to divorce her husband Kanye West on February 19, after almost seven years of marriage.

The former couple are requesting joint legal and physical custody of their four children – North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2.

Fans feared the couple were headed for a divorce last July, when Kanye spoke about almost aborting their daughter North during a presidential campaign rally in South Carolina.

The rapper also claimed he’s been “trying to get divorced” from Kim ever since she met Meek Mill back in 2018 to discuss prison reform, before later deleting his tweets.

Hours later, Kim opened up about her husband’s mental health in a statement – explaining how “incredibly complicated and painful” it can be to struggle with bipolar disorder.

The mother-of-four also asked the public to show their family “compassion” during such a difficult time.
