Goss.ie sat down with with the stars of A Date For Mad Mary Seána Kerslake and Charleigh Bailey – and chatted all about the newest film to hit Irish cinemas.
Seána Kerslake (Dollhouse) has hit headlines as of late, and has been described as the “Irish Scarlett Johansson” – having already received rave reviews for her performance in the new flick, directed by Darren Thornton.
Seána’s co-star Charleigh Bailey is best known for her role as Kelly Allen in Fair City – and is now delighted to be hitting the big screen, as A Date For Mad Mary is her first feature film.
The film’s story follows Mad Mary McArdle (Seána Kerslake), who returns to Drogheda after a short spell in prison. Back home, everything and everyone has changed. Her best friend, Charlene, is about to get married and Mary is maid of honour.
When Charlene (Charleigh Bailey) refuses Mary a ‘plus one’ on the grounds that she probably couldn’t find a date, Mary becomes determined to prove her wrong. But her attempts at dating are a disaster and she winds up feeling more alone – until she meets Jess (Tara Lee) and everything changes.
The film has been described as a tough and tender story about friendship, first love, and letting go of the glory days.
A Date For Mad Mary is set for release this Friday, September 2.
