Nathan Carter opens up on missing opportunity to support Garth Brooks

Nathan Carter has opened up on his disappointment after he missed the opportunity to support Garth Brooks in Croke Park after the concert was controversially cancelled.

The country crooner unfortunately missed the chance to perform alongside one of his musical heroes, however Nathan believes he will get the opportunity again when Garth eventually returns to our Emerald Isle.

“Country music has definitely had a massive resurgence over the last few years and Garth Brooks proved that by selling out four or five nights in Croke Park. Unfortunately it didn’t go ahead but it goes to prove how far country music has come,” he said.

“I was offered the two support spots, but I believe he’ll come back… I do think he’ll be back and hopefully he’ll give me the shot again to support him,” he told RTÉ TEN.

The 25-year-old is currently gearing up for his first television special, The Nathan Carter Show, and he mentioned that he has noticed a big change in the country music audience in Ireland and the UK in the past few years.

“I’ve seen a big change in the popularity of country. When I started out I was playing dance halls to a hundred people and they would’ve been a more mature audience.

“Nowadays I’d be playing to maybe one or two thousand people, with the majority being under 25 which is unreal,” he added.

Nathan’s TV special will see the singer take to the stage in Dublin’s Mansion House to perform with fellow Irish musicians Paddy Casey, Mary Black and The Dubliners’ John Sheahan in front of a live audience.

The Nathan Carter Show will air tonight on RTÉ One at 9.30pm.
