Colin Farrell used to 'beat up' bullies who teased his gay brother

Eamon Farrell has revealed Hollywood star Colin Farrell used to beat up the bullies who teased him when he was younger.

Despite being eight years younger, Colin acted as a “protector” for his older brother against kids who mocked him for being gay.

“He acted the part of the big brother. I hate fighting. But he would do that for me,” Eamon said.

“One young fella out on the road shouted ‘You f****t Farrell’. Colin went out and kicked the shite out of him. Honestly.”

Speaking to the Irish Independent Eamon revealed Colin “burst into tears” with happiness when he revealed he was gay.

Colin and Eamon have always had a very close relationship and the Hollywood actor has frequently voiced his support for gay marriage to be legalized in Ireland.

The Dublin native appeared on Claire Byrne Live last month to discuss his views on gay marriage and revealed he believes it is “grossly unfair” that gay couples cannot currently get married.

“To see them every day live their lives as a happily married couple is an amazing thing, and to think that they had to leave their own country to do that, is sad and disappointing and just grossly unfair I feel.”

Colin also spoke about the bullying his brother endured and admitted he had a “tough time” growing up.

“So he had a very very very tough time, a lot of cruelty, like real, absolute shameful cruelty that was placed upon him.”
