Bernard O'Shea insists 'Republic of Telly IS coming back'

Bernard O’Shea has said that the Republic of Telly will definitely be returning to TV screens in Autumn.

It comes as his co-host Jennifer Maguire had claimed that it may not be returning at all.

“Republic of Telly is coming back and it’s coming back in October. I’ll be back on it and probably Jen back on it as well,” he told Goss.ie.

“Programmes come and go and it might skip a season and sometimes they do come back and sometimes they don’t but Republic of Telly is main stay now for the station and it’s coming back,” he added.

Speaking at the launch of the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Bernard said he wants the show to be more popular than RTÉ’s lifestyle programme Nationwide.

“We want to take on Nationwide. We want to be bigger than Nationwide and if we get the same figures as Nationwide we’ll be there forever,” he revealed.

Last season while Jennifer was on maternity and the show had a different replacement each week from Charlotte of Geordie Shore to Laura Whitmore and Bernard wants to take one of the biggest names in showbiz on next season.

“I think Kim Kardashian. She would definitely do really well or if we can’t get Kim Kardashian we’ll definitely get Mary Kennedy,” he explained.

– The Vodafone Comedy Festival takes place from July 23rd to 26th and tickets go this Monday June 15th.
