Irish actress Ruth Negga has admitted viewers should expect extreme violence for her upcoming series Preacher.
The new show debuts in the US in May and is based on the successful comic book series.
The former Love/Hate star is joined by rumoured boyfriend Dominic Cooper and Misfits star Joseph Gilgun for the AMC series.
A-lister Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg serve as executive producers of the series.
Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a Texan preacher who becomes possessed by a supernatural creature.
Ruth portrays the actor’s ex-girlfriend, criminal Tulip O’Hare while Joseph portrays Irish vampire Cassidy.
“She is so much fun [to play]… People don’t think girls are capable of extreme violence,” she said at the South by Southwest screening of the show.
The trio embark on a journey to find God and confront him for “abandoning mankind”.
