Simon Cowell has come out in defence – after reports he caused the break down of Cheryl’s marriage to Jean Bernard Fernandez Versini.
A source close to the restaurateur had claimed the stress of the X Factor and Simon Cowell had led to the demise of their relationship.
Now Simon has come out saying the claims are “nonsense” and he said the pair have never spoken about the split.
“Their marriage breakdown had nothing to do with me — that’s complete nonsense,” Simon told the Sun.
“You don’t blame the show (X Factor) for the breakdown of the marriage.

“Me and him have certainly never had a conversation about it, I can assure you of that.”
However in a separate interview Simon admitted he told Chery’s ex JB to “go home” because he didn’t like his behaviour.
“There was one night where his behaviour was out of order,” he told the Mirror.
“Cheryl had an act in the bottom two or something. He was up on his feet, he was screaming, he put his hands across his neck at me.
“I just said afterwards to Cheryl it might be better if he doesn’t come down and watches it at home on TV and jump on as many sofas as he wants.”
Although Simon said the show wasn’t responsible for the marriage breakdown he admitted Cheryl seemed under a lot of stress that year.
“It was stressful last year I think, unnecessarily stressful.
“You make a series and the public don’t agree with what you have done and you just live with that the whole series.

“That does put pressure on you,” he admitted.
“Cheryl probably picked up on that a bit and with the marriage breaking down at the same time, it is not an ideal place when you are on live TV every week,” he explained.
But Simon said Cheryl now seems happier than ever with One Direction star Liam Payne – after seeing the couple at a party recently.
“She looked great I thought at the party, the best I have seen her in a long time.
“Body language was good and she looked healthy.”

“She is on good form but I think she misses working with me if I am being honest with you.”
While rumours have been flying that Cheryl and Liam are looking to start a family, Simon said he believes she would be a great mother.
“I don’t know about him but she would be an amazing mum.
“I have seen her with my son Eric and other kids over the years and she is incredible, she is very good with them.
“I think she is in a good place in her life right now,” he admitted.
