X Factor contestant, Scarlett Lee, has revealed that she received death threats over her appearance on the show.
The singer was announced as one of the lucky contestants to make it through to the live shows on last night’s episode of The X Factor, after she didn’t make it past the Six Chair Challenge on the programme last year.
The 21-year-old has now opened up about the aftermath of her appearance on the show in 2017 and revealed that she received death threats from viewers over her appearance.
“I had death threats and people saying my mum should never have given birth to me,” she told OK! Magazine.
“People were saying I’m a fat person, just because I’m not size six. But Mariah Carey and Beyoncé aren’t skinny girls and look how successful they are!” she continued.
Scarlett also opened up about online trolls as she spoke on Lorraine this morning: “I pray for them and bring the positive and tweet them back to say God Bless You.'”
“People were staring at me, laughing and pointing, it would ruin my day completely. I want to be a role model for children and show I am positive and stronger than that,” she said.
The X Factor is on every Saturday and Sunday night on Virgin Media One.
