Wes Nelson has opened up about his recent split from Megan Barton-Hanson and slammed claims that he didn’t fight for their relationship.
The couple met on Love Island during the summer and split after six months of dating – following the Dancing On Ice drama between the couple and Wes’ skating partner, Vanessa Bauer.
Wes told OK! Magazine that Megan’s claims are not true, as he said: “To say I didn’t fight for her is silly because it was a mutual decision.”
“I didn’t just say, ‘That’s it. I’m done.’ Fight for what? We both ended the relationship. If she wanted me to say more or do more that day I didn’t know that.”
Despite their public break-up, the former engineer admitted that he still loves his ex and said: “Of course I still love Megan. You can’t just drop the feelings after a week of being split up, but loving someone doesn’t mean that they are the right person for you.”
The shocking split came after Megan accused Vanessa of “tactically” breaking up with her boyfriend and accused her of trying to steal Wes.
The skating duo have been praised for their ‘chemistry’ on the ice but Wes has slammed the romance rumours: “People have said, “Why don’t you get with Vanessa?”
“I see it in my comments all the time, but for one has anyone ever asked me if I fancy her? No I don’t. Vanessa is not my cup of tea.”
