WATCH: George Shelley opens up about little sister’s tragic death in heartbreaking interview

George's sister Harriet died last year

George Shelley struggled to keep it together during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine this morning, as he opened up about the tragic death of his 21-year-old sister Harriet.

The 24-year-old, who rose to fame on The X Factor, was left completely devastated last year when Harriet was struck by a car on a night out in Bristol, causing her to suffer a fatal injury.

She walked out from between a HGV and a coach carrying crew and equipment for a Stormzy concert, and it’s since been revealed that she was nearly three times over the drink-drive limit.

Speaking about the tragedy, George said, “I’ve had a pretty rubbish year and I’ve experienced things I thought I’d never have to experience.”

The former Union J star also told how they believed Harriet would pull through, but then doctors broke the bad news.

“It was like she’s gonna live, she’s gonna live, and at the end they said they had the brain specialists in and said even if she pulls through she’s gone.”

The presenter also told how Harriet’s organs have helped save the lives of seven people since her death.
