Vicky Pattison ‘heartbroken’ over the death of her best friend – just hours after celebrating his birthday

The nightclub owner died suddenly at the age of 37

Vicky Pattison has revealed her heartbreak, as she paid tribute to her “oldest friend” Paul Burns – who died suddenly over the weekend.

The 37-year-old, who owned Newcastle-based nightclub The Botanist, passed away suddenly on Saturday, just hours after he celebrated his birthday with former Geordie Shore star Vicky.

Two days after Paul’s shocking death, Vicky took to Instagram to pay tribute to her friend, writing, “I don’t know what to post. I don’t know what to say. But this seemed fitting. @mrpaulburns1 you are my best friend, my oldest friend and one of the most amazing people in the world.”

“My heart is broken. I know I will never get over losing you and this still doesn’t feel real- I’m desperately just waiting for the moment I wake up from this nightmare.”

“The only solace I can take from this is that I spent your lastnight with you and all of our best friends and you knew how much we loved you. How important you were to us and how you kept us together as a group,” she continued.

“I never met a more selfless person. Some of the best moments of my life I shared with you and the lasses. I do not want to accept that you won’t be at my wedding.

“The world will forever be less bright without you in it. But I suppose you were just too special. You were too good for us Paul and I hope they look after you in heaven. Show them how it’s done boot off burns,” she added.

Vicky’s former co-stars, Charlotte Crosby and Kyle Christie, also paid tribute to Paul on social media.

Charlotte wrote, “Words cannot describe the pain this weekend has brought ???? It still doesn’t feel real. I don’t want it to be real. I am so so so happy to be able to of shared some amazing memories with you that I will never ever forget.

“Without you Newcastle has lost its sparkle. My thoughts are with All of Paul’s family and best friends ????????RIP Paul burns….love you. We’ll never ever forget.”

Meanwhile, Kylie revealed that Paul helped MTV recruit people for Geordie Shore – and urged producers to put him on the show.

After hearing the tragic news yesterday I’ve been thinking of how to put this into words but the simple fact is this doesn’t seem real. Last night and today have been a blur and the sinking realisation that you are no longer here is taking hold. I remember my first night working in town where you took me under your wing and showed me the ropes, little did I know the effect you would have on the rest of my life. Not many people know this but MTV asked Burnsy if he could think of any names to put forward for Geordie Shore with him being one the biggest socialites to grace this city and without hesitation he put my name forward. For that I owe him the lifestyle I have today and I am eternally great full. Over the years seeing the bond grow between him and Cal , taking him under his wing in the same way and growing close as we did makes this all the more devastating. My heart breaks for the empty seat at the table last night and as a city we need to come together and stay strong as we mourn the loss of one the greatest human beings to walk this earth. Hope your up there PB showing people the genuine, kind hearted, witty ‘Queen of Newcastle’ we all know and love. Fly high brother, until we meet again ????

On Friday night, Vicky had shared a snap of her and Paul out for his birthday in Newcastle.
