There’s been much speculation over who will be the next James Bond, and Tom Hardy finally responded to the news, as part of an April Fools joke.

On April Fool’s Day, the Daily Express reported that Daniel Craig had quit the famous spy franchise after 10 years, and that Tom was cast as his replacement.

In response to the April Fool’s day prank, Tom posted a screenshot of the announcement on Instagram alongside the caption, “Dammit I was in my tux and on the runway.”

“Good to go. No drama. Return to base. Headed back to Nola stood down 19.”

Daniel Craig has played the secret agent in the past four films, and was very vocal about not wanting to do another after the release of Spectre in 2015.

There had been speculation that Tom, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and even David Beckham could be picked for the role.

However, the gossip was put on pause when it was announced that Daniel Craig would be returning for Bond 25, that is set to be released in 2019.

The Mad Max star may have an interest in playing Bond in the future, but he’s been busy lately filming a biopic for the famous American gangster Al Capone – and he’s shared some behind the scenes pics with fans on his Instagram.

Chasing Fonzo…????????????????????????????????????????????????????
