S Club 7 star set for Eastenders debut

Eastenders are adding another pop star to their cast list

Eastenders have really gotten in touch with their musical side lately, as they announced last night that they are set to add yet another noughties pop star to their cast list.

Speaking to Digital Spy Hannah Spearitt confirmed that she will be making an appearance in Albert Square in the coming months.

The singer will be playing Karen’s Taylor’s younger sister Kandice in the popular soap.

Hannah, who shot to fame in the all singing all dancing pop group S Club 7, has previous acting credits including: the time-travelling zookeeper Abby Maitland in Primeval and more recently as Mercedes Christien in Casualty.

“I’m over the moon to be joining the show, it’s such a huge part of British telly,” the singer said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started and I can’t wait to see the Square in the flesh. Walford here I come!”

And of course, this wont be the first pop star to be cast in an EastEnders role.  Lee Ryan of boy band Blue fame joined the cast during the year. Lee is currently playing Woody Woodward, the Vic’s witty and loveable barman.
