Rio Ferdinand spoke out for the first time about his relationship with girlfriend Kate Wright in an interview on This Morning.
“This is having a positive affect”, he says, “the kids are happy, happiest they have been.”
The former football player spoke about the positive affects that Kate has had on him and his children’s life.
The former TOWIE star reportedly quit TOWIE to focus on Rio and his three children.
Rio discussed how him and his children dealt with overcoming grief and allowing himself to fall in love again.
“My kids deserve to be happy, they have had tragedy for the last few years of their life’s.”
The 38-year-old’s wife, Rebecca passed away in July of 2015 after battling cancer aged 34. Rio was left to care for his their three children, Lorenz, 11, Tate, 9, and Tia, 6.
The football star took to Instagram to thank his fans for the support.
Rio seemed happy with the relationship as he added, “Yes I’m in a relationship, its going well!”
Rumours started months before the couple made it public back in July. They have enjoyed traveling to Portugal along with Rio’s children.
The couple seem happier than ever, Kate recently posted a picture of the two looking cute, exercising in matching outfits!
Rio filmed a documentary called Being Mum And Dad, which goes through his journey of grieving alongside his kids.
Rio is very honest in the documentary as he discusses his relationship with his late wife, saying he never said “I love you” enough to her.
The star admits he doesn’t want to make the same mistake in his current relationship and with his kids.
