Richard Madden says he projects an ‘unrealistic body image’ as he admits to ‘barely eating’ for topless scenes

Bodyguard star Richard Madden has revealed he is worried about projecting an “unrealistic body image”.

The actor, 32, has been hailed as the new TV hunk, thanks to his recent role in BBC drama Bodyguard.

But speaking to Vogue magazine,  the Scottish actor has admitted to “barely eating” when preparing for topless scenes.

Richard said men feel pressure to lose weight too

“I find myself with actor friends – after we’ve done a kind of barely eating, working-out-twice-a-day, no-carbing thing for these scenes – looking at each other going: “We’re just feeding this same s**t that we’re against.”

The Rocketman star said it’s not just his female co-stars who feel pressure to look good on camera and to lose weight for specific scenes.

“I’ve done numerous jobs where you’re told to lose weight and get to the gym. It doesn’t just happen to women, it happens to men all the time as well,” he admitted.

Richard added that he is now much stricter when it comes to agreeing to do naked scenes.

“Within the first 15 pages and it says, ‘he gets into the shower’,” adding that he feels the shower scenes are added just so he has to “take his clothes off”.

The news comes after reports Richard has moved to LA and is living with good friend, 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn.

The Mail Online have pictures of the pair together buying marijuana cigarettes.
