Oti Mabuse has responded to rumours that she could take over Darcey Bussell’s judging role on Strictly Come Dancing.
The professional dancer has been part of the show since 2015 and recently joined Simon Cowell’s newest programme, The Greatest Dancer, as a dance captain.
Last week Darcey announced her departure from the Strictly judging panel and Oti is a fan favourite to take over the spot.
The South African native has now shut down the speculation, as she said she would miss dancing too much.
“I think I would absolutely miss [dancing] and that part of it,” Oti revealed on BBC Radio 2.
“You see now the thing is, obviously you know after doing The Greatest Dancer and you sort of played a different role in that – so you would be brilliant at it but the only thing is it would mean that we wouldn’t get you on the dance floor.”
“I think the Strictly audience is just like “no we’re not ready to let her go”…but you know I love dancing I love coming to the rehearsals I love being a part of the group it’s a really special group to be a part of…” she continued.
The professional dancer then added that she would also miss the connection she has with the other dancers on Strictly: “There are no dancers like Strictly dancers, how close we are.… I think I would absolutely miss that and that part of it.”
