Ofcom complaints about Cheryl’s X Factor performance trebled after she defended the routine in a lengthy statement.
The mother-of-one received huge criticism following her performance on the show and hit back with a statement on Twitter last night.
The 35-year-old told fans that she “loved” her performance, despite the major backlash, and said that she found the ongoing negativity towards her “shocking.”
Although her statement was well-received by some, her message seems to have sparked another wave of complaints to Ofcom, as a spokesperson for the organisation revealed that a further 30 complaints were sent in following her statement.
“We have now received 45 complaints about the above which we are assessing against our broadcasting rules, before deciding whether or not to investigate,” they told MailOnline.
