Mollie King to co-host new radio show on BBC Radio 1

Mollie King has revealed she will be the new co-host on BBC Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast show.

Mollie will join DJ Matthew Edmondson in presenting the Breakfast Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The former Saturdays singer announced the news today on Instagram.

“I’m absolutely blown away to have been asked to host the Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Friday/Saturday/Sunday with @matthewedmondson, my partner in crime!” she announced on Instagram.”

The 31-year-old seemed very excited about her new presenting role as she said: “I remember the buzz I got when I first walked into Radio 1 as a guest, 10 years ago, and that buzz is still with me now every time I step through the studio doors.

“I can’t wait to get started! See you there – bright and most definitely early! Eeeek!!! Anyone got an alarm clock i can borrow?”

Mollie and Matt have already proved to be a great team, as they hosted This Morning together during the summer.

Matt has worked with BBC Radio 1 for almost eight years and welcomed his new host with a harmless joke on Instagram: “It is an absolute dream come true, as is working with Mollie (a nightmare is technically still a dream.)

“I know we’re going to have so much fun, and I can’t wait to get started.”

HUGE NEWS! From the 16th of November @mollieking and I will be hosting the Radio 1 Weekend Breakfast show three days a week – Fri/Sat/Sun. It is an absolute dream come true, as is working with Mollie (a nightmare is technically still a dream). I know we’re going to have so much fun, and I can’t wait to get started.
