Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton don’t accept free clothes but they return a lot of items

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are global style icons as a result of their relationships with English royals but why do they not accept free clothes and how do they afford their expensive designer pieces?

Spokespeople for William and Kate have repeatedly said that the Duchess of Cambridge doesn’t accept free clothes and Meghan has been following this policy too.

Markle made her own wealth through her successful acting career, coupled with her brand partnerships, she has been estimated to be worth €4million.

The former Suits actress’ engagement gown from Ralph & Russo was worth a reported €65,000. Towards the end of her time playing Rachel Zane on the hit show Markle was earning over €40,000 per episode which amounted to around €365,000 a year.

While she can definitely afford the chic designer pieces, like this €1,000 Amanda Wakeley beret and coat, in her own right she  won’t have to go in to her own pocket for much longer.

Her own wealth will soon be coupled with Prince Harry’s, who is reported to be worth €30million through a combination of money left to him by Princess Diana, his Duchy of Cornwall income and money he received after the Queen Mother passed away in 2002, when they wed on May 19th.

Like Kate, Meghan will earn an ‘income’ for her work with the royal family after her wedding.

Both Prince William and Prince Harry are paid in part from the Duchy of Cornwalll which is worth over and eye-watering €900,000,000.

People have said that styling assistants to the royals like Natasha Archer, return all of the options the women don’t wear.

Similar to pulling for fashion shoots, many designer items are ordered in for the women to choose between and the items that are not worn are returned, only the chosen items are paid for.

While their wealth mightn’t be that relatable getting the most out of a returns policy certainly is!
