Meghan Markle “politely declined” her invite to the Emmy Awards next month, it has been revealed.

The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry were both invited to the award ceremony as special guests, giving Meghan the opportunity to bid farewell to her life as an actress.

From 2011 – 2017, Meghan played the part of Rachel Zane in popular television programme Suits, but announced that she was ending her acting career after getting engaged to the Royal last year.

A source told The Sun: “We had hoped Meghan would attend as a way of saying goodbye to her Suits fans and colleagues.”

“Show executives and NBC had offered Harry and her an invitation to celebrate with the biggest stars around, meet her showbiz friends and even present an honour. But Meghan is not attending.”

The 37-year-old was put forward for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in June, but was never officially nominated.
