Love Island’s Samira Mighty opens up about her breast cancer scare

The reality star was 19 when she first found the lump

Samira Mighty has opened up about her cancer scare, before she gets a lump removed from her breast next week.

The Love Island star has revealed that she found the growth three years ago, and at the time, doctors told her it was “fine” – so she forgot about it.

But in recent months, the reality star noticed the lump had grown larger, but thankfully it didn’t turn out to be cancerous.

Speaking to Metro, Samira said, “It was really dramatic, I immediately thought I had breast cancer. You Google, Wikipedia, and think you’re going to die.”

She continued: “It did play on my mind, because you’d be drying off after the shower and feel this lump and think, something is not right. Or I’d be ill and in my head I’d connect it to the lump.”

Samira also praised her Love Island bestie Dr Alex George for helping her be more careful when it comes to her health.

She said: “Since meeting Doctor Alex I’ve been enlightened to many things, and since then I’ve discovered how important it is to look after yourself. You just don’t think, ‘Oh, I’m going to check my boobs,’ but it is so important. Just spend five minutes feeling them.”

Samira urged other women to check their breasts, and realise “how quickly things can change.”
