Love Island’s Amy Hart lashes out at cruel online trolls who brand her ‘fat’ and ‘ugly’

Amy Hart has taken to her Instagram story to clap back at online trolls and bullies.

The reality TV star told her followers that she has learned to block certain key phrases so that she doesn’t see negative comments, and takes the rest of the cruel words with a pinch of salt.

“As you can all keep seeing, when I’m bored on the train I’m flicking through all your lovely comments, and occasionally obviously, little neggy ones, and I do tend to give a little sassy comeback or explain,” she said.

“Because obviously people are misinformed so you have to explain and educate.”

Amy elaborated to say that people have previously advised her not to engage with negativity, but she wants to address it with good humour.

“People are like, ‘don’t reply’, but I just like having a laugh with it all, like maybe if I can bring a bit of joy to their life they won’t do it to some other poor sod,” she said.

“You know, I’m quite strong, I can take it. Other people can’t so all I’ll say is, think before you post.”

Amy previously told Loose Women that she chooses to filter out some of the trolls using key word blocking, eliminating comments and tweets that have her name in them alongside the words “fat” and “ugly.”

“I’ve actually been quite lucky and I was thinking ”I haven’t got any bad comments,’ she said.

“But in the post Love island social media training, they teach you about blocking certain comments, if they comment that it doesn’t show up on my feed, like fat, ugly.”

On episode 30 of the Gosscast, Goss Media Founder Ali Ryan sits down with Goss.ie Editor Kendra Becker to wrap up all things Love Island – plus Ali and Kendra chat through this week’s biggest stories.
