Louis Tomlinson’s biological father has been diagnosed with liver cancer, just 18 months after his mother Johannah Deakin died from leukemia.
Louis’ 49-year-old father Troy Austin underwent a life-saving operation to remove a 1.5inch tumour from his liver last week, and blamed drinking, smoking and poor eating habits for the tumour.
Speaking to The Sun, Troy said, “I’ve been crying tears of joy because I feel so lucky to have been given a second chance. Early diagnosis is everything.”
“Each day I was smoking up to 25 cigarettes and drinking six to eight cans of Tyskie, a Polish lager. And my diet was terrible. It was Chinese and Indian takeaways and a lot of chips.”
“Some days I wouldn’t eat at all but would just drink and smoke. I would drink to celebrate the good times and drink to cope with the bad. Whatever life threw at me I would drink. And there was stress.”
The news comes after Louis lost his 46-year-old mother Johannah in December 2016 to a very aggressive form of leukemia.
Louis’ biological parents, Troy and Johannah, split in 1997 when he was aged just five.
Johannah went on to have four more children, Charlotte, Felicity and twins Phoebe and Daisy, with Mark Tomlinson – who Louis considers his real father.
After splitting from Mark, Johannah went on to have twins Ernest and Doris with her second husband Dan Deakin in February 2014.
Louis has long been estranged from his biological father, and Troy has allegedly struggled with substance abuse over the years.
Just hours after the news of Troy’s diagnosis broke, Louis made a surprise appearance at The NHS Heroes Awards 2018 in London on Monday night to present the Young Fund Raiser Award.

Louis helped honour the 15-year-old for raising £27,000 for the hospital that helped her recover following the attack.
