Season 5 has only just begun – but Line Of Duty has become the biggest show of the year so far in the UK.
The BBC have revealed that the debut episode of the new series brought in 11.4 million viewers.
It means that the cop show is now the most watched programme of 2019 so far across all channels in the UK, and is BBC’s most popular show since Bodyguard last year.
It was also the show’s highest rating episode to date.
The series has also found a new audience in recent weeks, thanks to series 1-4 now streaming on Netflix.
Line Of Duty is written by Jed Mercurio, who was behind BBC’s massive hit show Bodyguard.
The hit series follows the AC-12 team; an anti-corruption squad. While it’s based in a town on the outskirts of London, the series is actually filmed in Belfast.
