Liam Payne has finally revealed that he DID audition for a Steven Spielberg film, but unfortunately he didn’t get the part.

The 25-year-old hopes to follow in the footsteps of Harry Styles by breaking into acting, but he hasn’t secured a role just yet.

Speaking on Capitol radio, Liam said: “I’ve had some great auditions for a couple of different things, which have been amazing and I’m enjoying it. It’s a fun process.”

When he was urged to name the movies he’s auditioned for, Liam confessed: “Well the first thing I ever auditioned for was for the remake of West Side Story, which is being done by Steven Stielberg.”

“On my last birthday I got a message saying you need to go and meet ‘SS’ on Thursday, so I had to go and do an audition in front of him which was quite wild.”

When asked if he got the part, Liam replied: “I didn’t get it nah, but I was in the last like five people for it- which I was quite happy with because it was a big part in the film.”

“It was the first audition I’ve ever done and I put four takes in and managed to get to meet Steven Spielberg, so it was pretty amazing.”

Last September,The Sun reported that Liam was in talks with Spielberg over a role in his West Side Story remake.

The famed movie maker is finally set to direct the film next year, having spent the last 15 trying to obtain the rights for it.

West Side Story centres around two gangs – the Sharks and the Jets – and is loosely based on the plight of the Montagues and the Capulets in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.

A source said at the time: “Liam was approached and was naturally flattered to be considered. Casting agents have been ordered to find singers between the ages of 15 and 25 who can also dance, while also being able to deliver lines.”

“Liam sees the opportunity to work with Spielberg as an exciting prospect and one too good to turn down.”
