Kit Harington describes Belfast as his ‘second home’ ahead of the final season of Game of Thrones

Kit Harington described Belfast as his “second home” ahead of the final season of Game of Thrones.

The actor, along with the fellow cast-members, spent months in Belfast filming the programme over the past nine years and Kit is looking forward to returning whenever he gets the chance.

“Belfast is genuinely like a second home to me. We spent six months of the year there, over nine years,” he told the Irish Sun.

“I saw it change from a place coming out of great unrest for far longer than I’ve even been alive through various efforts that the city and the country made.”

“That brought in shows like Game of Thrones, the new bars, new restaurants and the new culture, I feel very privileged to have witnessed the transformation of the city over that period.”

The actor added that he would love to return to Belfast: “I’m looking forward to going back there whenever there is a reason to go and celebrate with them, because I just love the place. Dublin is a very different city.”

Kit also spoke about his future career plans and admitted that it would be difficult to commit to another series as long as Game of Thrones.

“Unless something really amazing turns up, something extra special, it would be hard for me to commit to another six-year deal where I stay within that world for such a long arc.”

Instead the 32-year-old plans on doing more theatre and short series: “Right now, I’m looking at theatre, movies, limited series. It will have to be something totally amazing for me to consider another long running series.”
