James Arthur hit out at The X Factor for sound problems, after fans criticised his performance with Anne-Marie.

The pair sang The Greatest Showman‘s ‘Rewrite the Stars’ at last night’s finale, but were met with huge backlash as fans were less than impressed with their performance.

Following the negative reaction online, James took to Twitter to blame The X Factor for sound issues, as he wrote: “Thanks for the nice comments about mine and @AnneMarie performance! However I don’t know why they had crowd mics blaring throughout and vocal levels all over.. not the mix we would’ve liked you to hear. X”

Fellow celeb, Rylan Clark-Neal, praised the singer for his performance and replied: “Knew the second u started you had a problem with ur ears. Still smashed it brother xxx”

Fans also hit out at The X Factor for sound issues, as one tweeted: “I knew something was up as you didn’t look comfortable from where I was sitting. The sound quality has been so bad this year on the show, you’d think they’d sort it out!! We love you no matter what, it’s their fault not yours Hun”.

Others, however, slammed the singer for making ‘excuses’, as a follower tweeted: “Haha excuses excuses 😂 Sorry but that was an AWFUL performance. Both of you sounded off.. James, you used to be so good live, you sound nothing like you did when you were a contestant on the show”.

“Omg James Arthur and Anne Marie sounded AWFUL on X factor!! James was okay but Anne Marie ….. Jesus!” another fan wrote.
