The stars of Girls Aloud have taken to social media today to celebrate 15 years since their band was formed.

This day 15 years ago, the pop girl group Girls Aloud was formed though the ITV talent show Popstars The Rivals back in 2002.

The 5 piece pop group, which was made up of  Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh, achieved huge success with ten top singles in the UK, four number ones, seven certified albums and five Brit Award nominations.

Pop singer and mum of one, Cheryl, took to Twitter to mark the occasion.

She posted a picture of herself with band mates Nicola and Kimberley with the caption, “15 years of Girls Aloud, wow what a experience it has been. My life changed 15 years ago and I love you all#GirlsAloud.”

Kimberley also marked the 15 year anniversary online using the same picture Cheryl used on Twitter.

Kimberley captioned her photo “Happy 15th Birthday girls @cherylofficial @lilnicola @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding so proud of us and all we achieved! #HappyBirthdayGA #GirlsAloud15 #GirlsAloud”.

Nicola, who is also a fashion designer and songwriter, retweeted Kimberley and let everyone know that the three of them were celebrating the day together, adding the caption, “Girls day with @CherylOfficial & @KimberleyJWalsh today x.”

Sarah Harding stepped out at the OK! Magazine Beauty Awards on Tuesday, in a very rare public appearance since her split form Big Brother housemate Chad Johnson.

However, Sarah has yet to post anything online to mark the Girls Aloud 15th anniversary, as her last post to Twitter was yesterday, and her last Instagram post was a quote of the day pic on November 10th.

It’s no secret that the band have had their arguments in the past, with a very clear divide between the group with Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola forming a close-knit threesome.

Nadine, the only Irish member of the group reminisced of the group’s success on their second album, What Will the Neighbour’s Say, posting a gif of herself with the caption, “14 years ago we released ‘What Will The Neighbours Say’ , Can’t believe how time flies!!”

What Will The Neighbours Say included the hit single Love Machine, while next Tuesday will be the 12th anniversary of their third album, Chemistry, which included the fan favourite, Biology.
