First OFFICIAL guestlist released for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are to wed on the 19th of May and speculation has been rife about who’s invited to the royal affair.

Mel B spilled earlier in the week that the Spice Girls will be reuniting at the event.

Ed Sheeran was rumoured to be singing at the wedding of the year too, but his record label said their was no truth to the speculation. The event clashed with one of his Phoenix Park gigs which caused concern for ticket holders.

To cease further speculation Kensington Palace have released the first official list of royal wedding guests!

According to the palace’s official Twitter account the entire day will be shaped around allowing “members of the public to share in the joy and the fun of the day.”

Keeping it cosy, the couple will only invite about “2,640 members of the public to Windsor Castle on their wedding day to watch the arrivals of the Bride and Groom and their guests and the carriage procession as it departs from the castle.”

“The couple has asked that 1,200 people, from all corners of the UK be selected by Lord Lieutenants, include young people who have shown strong leadership and those who have served their communities.”

“Also invited into the castle grounds are 200 people from charities and organisations close to Prince Harry and Ms. Markle, including those which Prince Harry serves as Patron.”

“Other guests will include 100 pupils from two local schools, 610 Windsor Castle community members and 530 Members of The Royal Household and The Crown Estate.”

So to recap that’s…

  • 1,200 members of the public from every corner of the United Kingdom will be nominated to attend by nine regional Lord Lieutenant offices. The couple has asked that the people chosen are from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.
  •  200 people from a range of charities and organisations which Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have a close association with, including those which Prince Harry serves as Patron.
  • 100 pupils from two local schools: The Royal School, Great Park, Windsor and St George’s School, Windsor Castle – both of which have a strong affiliation with the Windsor Castle community.
  • 610 Windsor Castle community members, including residents of Windsor Castle and members of the St George’s Chapel community.
  • 530 Members of The Royal Households and Crown Estate.

2,640 members of the public but Meghan’s step-sister Samantha isn’t welcome? We think we’ll see a few more rants on Twitter from her in the lead up to the ceremony.
