Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett airlifted to hospital after horror crash

It took two hours for firefighters to cut her from the wreckage

Roxanne Pallett was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday after a horror car crash.

The former Emmerdale star crashed into a concrete wall at high speed during a stock car race against Ben Fry, her Minster FM breakfast show co-host, at Hunmanby Raceway in York.

According to The Sun, it took two hours for firefighters to cut her free from the wreckage, before she was airlifted 41 miles to Hull Royal Infirmary.

The 36-year-old reportedly suffered severe bruising, two sprained wrists, and is awaiting results to check for further damage.

A source told The Sun Online, ‘She tried to overtake Ben on a bend and was travelling too fast and smashed into the concrete wall on the track.”

“She lost consciousness for about 30 seconds on impact. Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and race gear.”

Roxanne was taking part in the car race as a segment for her Minster FM breakfast show.

Roxanne played Jo Sugden in the ITV soap Emmerdale from 2005 to 2009, but the brunette quit acting to become a radio DJ.

Aside from Emmerdale, Roxanne won Celebrity Stars in their Eyes as Gloria Estefan in 2006, and took part in Dancing on Ice in 2009.
