Emma Thompson breaks her silence on not being in Love Actually sequel

Emma Thompson has spoken out about not being in the 10-minute sequel of Love Actually.

It was recently revealed that most of the cast would be reuniting for a special Comic Relief movie called Red Nose Day Actually.

However, although most of Love Actually’s stars will appear in the short movie – it has been confirmed that one of the film’s favourites Emma Thompson will not be a part of the reunion.

The actress recalls when writer and director of the film Richard Curtis wrote to her, “Richard wrote to me and said, ‘Darling we can’t write anything for you because of Alan.'”

She then continued, “And I said, ‘No of course, it would be sad, too sad’.

Alan Rickman, the actor who played Emma’s husband in the comedy, passed away last year.

“It’s too soon,” she added. “It’s absolutely right because it’s supposed to be for Comic Relief, but there isn’t much comic relief in the loss of our dear friend really only just over a year ago.”
