Ed Sheeran SMASHES chart records with two new singles

Ed Sheeran is “incredibly chuffed”, as he’s become the first artist ever to score the two top spots in the chart simultaneously with his two new singles.

The British star surprised fans by dropped two brand new tracks, Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill, after taking a year’s hiatus.

Gearing up to release his new album Divide, Shape of You flew straight to number one, followed by Castle On The Hill – and according to the Official Charts Company, his total sale has reached 421,000 across both singles so far.

According to the BBC, Ed said, “Both tracks mean a huge amount to me so it really is amazing to see them go to the top of the chart together on the first week.

“I can’t wait for everyone to hear the rest of the album in March.”

Ed’s comeback marks the biggest opening week for an artist, ever since Adele’s record-breaking return in November 2015 with Hello.

Divide is set for release on March 3.
