Cheryl and Liam Payne announce SPLIT

Cheryl and Liam Payne have announced they have split.

The couple, who welcomed son Bear this year, have called it quits after two and a half years of dating.

According to the UK Sun, the singers broke up officially two weeks ago, with Liam moving out of their home together.

“We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make,” the couple said in a statement.

“We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

The pair had been constantly fighting off split rumours this year, after reports that the couple were fighting and that Liam’s publicity tour in the states was putting serious pressure on their relationship.

Fans were quick to notice this weekend that Liam was nowhere to be seen, as Cheryl celebrated her 35th birthday.

While there were reports that the One Direction star had flown back to the UK to celebrate with his other-half, he made no reference to her birthday on social media.

“Cheryl and Liam worked really hard on their relationship – they had troubles earlier this year and were able to get through them,” a source told the Sun.

“But they’re in different stages of their lives and, after a lot of careful thought, came to a decision that it’s best for everyone if they do go their separate ways.

“He still cares for her and she cares for him. They still have an ongoing relationship together. They have a baby together,” the insider added.

Cheryl had tried to completely slam claims the couple were going through a rough patch, and after the Sun published a piece saying the couple were set to split – Cheryl arrived hand in hand with Liam at the Brit Awards in February.

At the time both Cheryl and Liam shared loved-up snaps together at the red carpet event, in hopes to deter rumours that they were breaking up.

But just five months later, it’s clear the rumours had merit.

Cheryl has been unlucky in love. The former X Factor judge, aged 34, had a very public split from footballer husband Ashley Cole back in 2010.

The singer then married French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez Versini in 2014, but then had a “quickie divorce” just 18 months later.

Within a year Cheryl started publicly dating Liam, whom she first met as an X Factor judge when he was auditioning for the show, aged 14.
