The Young Offenders set for TV series

The writer of The Young Offenders, Peter Foott, has divulged that he plans to turn the hit movie into a TV show.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, he said, “We want to keep it in the world that we have, and that’s why we like the idea of doing a big budget TV show.

“The current idea is it picks up where the film leaves off. I’ve got different outlines for it.”

The exciting news comes after it was revealed that The Young Offenders is going to be released in theatres in the UK and the USA.

Peter Foott also explained how the idea of the show is happening so quickly after the movie was released.

“We want to do it off the back off the Irish success and that’s basically why it’s all happening so quickly.”

The hit Irish film has taken in over €1 million at the Irish box office since its release last month.

It has just been picked up by the UK company Vertigo Releasing, which will put the comedy on the big screen in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand before Christmas.
