The X Factor judging panel has finally been confirmed, following the departures of Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, and Sharon Osbourne.

The new lineup was officially announced at Somerset House on Tuesday – confirming that Robbie Williams, his wife Ayda Field, and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson will all join Simon Cowell as judges on this year’s series.

Speaking at the press conference, Simon said the new judging panel is “going to bring a whole new energy. I think we’ve got a good chance.”

The music mogul also admitted, “I’ve tried to get Robbie on every show we’ve had for 18 years, then it happened by accident. We went to my house and chatted on the balcony and did a deal.”

On why he wanted Robbie’s wife Ayda on the panel, Simon said, “These two together… Ayda has a passion for people, an optimism. I’ve never felt so excited.”

According to MailOnline, Ayda told the press, “I’ve been here every step of the way with Robbie. It’s a very emotional process and I’m really excited about helping people achieve their dreams.”

“Just like Simon said (agreeing to do the show) was a very organic process”

Meanwhile, Robbie said, “I’ve done tours and promos for years and now it’s time to branch out and try something different. Thank you for having us Simon.”
