Former TV3 news star Alan Cantwell has insisted he hasn’t given up on his dream of becoming a US star.
The TV anchorman – who quit the station last year after 14 years – hopes to get a role on a major news channel in America.
However Alan, 46, has been bogged down by issues with getting a visa.
He said: “In the States they tend to look after the indigenous folk first and you are further down the pecking order.

“So it is difficult to get work and the visa, but I’m still not ruling it out.”
Alan is now working doing media consultancy work – and told the Star he has even turned down work in the UK.
He added: “There is a lot of stuff coming up in terms of corporate and politics.
“I did a little work during the European and by-elections. So apart from that I’ve been leading a very boring life.”
