Sharon Ni Bheolain WILL be soaked as she takes on the ice bucket challenge tonight

RTE news presenter Sharon Ni Bheolain is set to do the ice bucket challenge after raising more than €1,000.

The normally straight-laced TV star had promised to have freezing cold water poured over her this evening after the 6.01 News, if she got €1,000 in donations.

Now the Montrose presenter’s target has been met – and Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene will pour the water over her later on.

She said: “I have to confess I’m not always the biggest fan of nominate or celebrity challenges but I have to make an exception for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Dunked: Jenny is left a little cold before nominating Sharon

“Having witnessed their brilliant work and unfaltering support for family and care givers personally I will happily take my ice shower in exchange for pledges of at least one thousand euro.

“So dig deep for IMNDA and I’ll step up to the plate!”

She had been nominated by 2FM presenter Jenny Greene after she took the plunge earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, Kathryn Thomas became the latest celebrity to do the ice bucket challenge.

The Voice star had the freezing water poured over her by Marty Whelan – after the Lyric FM presenter nominated her.

Now Kathryn has nominated Marty Morrissey, Imelda May and Miriam O’Callaghan for the charity challenge.

It all started out in RTE after Nicky Byrne was first to jump onto it by nominating 2FM co-host Jenny Greene for the challenge.

And even Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy took on the ice bucket challenge to raise funds for Motor Neuron Disease after being nominated by Daithi O’Se.
