Viewers have applauded transgender teen David Beattie for his bravery speaking about his transition on The Late Late Show.
Some may the teenager recognise from Vogue William’s documentary on the trans community where she talked to many about their transitions.
“I’ve never had bad experiences – but when I transferred to secondary school, it was very different,” he said.
Trans: David is transitioning to female but currently still identifies as male
David still identifies as male but is beginning his journey to become female and has written a book on his experience, Who Cares?
“There were a lot of people who wanted me to hide my feminine aspect and suppress myself,” he told Ryan Tubridy on the show.
The writer admitted his ultimate goal in talking about his transition is to help someone – “If I was able to help one person, I would be happy.”
Many took to Twitter to not only commend him for his bravery but other members of the LGBTQ+ community thanked him for being so open.
