UTV Ireland hoping to convince Glenda Gilson to defect from TV3

Big-spending UTV Ireland are hoping to convince Glenda Gilson to leave TV3 for them.

The newest Irish TV station are starting to headhunt presenters before it launches in January next year.

Insiders revealed that the Xpose presenter – as well as Late Lunch Live’s Martin King – are top names on UTV Ireland’s hit list.

However asked if they were looking at Glenda and Martin, a UTV Ireland spokesman told Goss.ie they had yet to speak to any talent.

He said: “No, at this moment we have not spoken to any talent as we are busy getting the business of UTV Ireland up and running.”

Sources said that Glenda and Martin are particularly wanted because of the similarity to UTV Ireland’s wanted audience.

“UTV Ireland will target a similar demographic to TV3, with the same audience and appeal,” a source told the Irish Sun.

“It makes perfect sense to launch with presenters known to viewers, who would play a key role moving the audience over from one station to another.”
