Two Tube star Blathnaid Treacy: 'Kids made fun of me because I was in Glenroe'

Two Tube star Blathnaid Treacy has revealed that she was bullied for being in the soap Glenroe.

Blathnaid found fame at the tender age of only three months old, as she landed a part in the soap.

“Because it was on on a Sunday night, you would go to school on a Monday and get a bit of slagging, but you have to take that sort of thing on the chin,” she said

“The bit I didn’t really like I didn’t really like was people recognising me, I found that really awkward and weird.”

The presenter also told VIP Magazine how people would hum the Glenroe theme tune when they would see her.

“It must have happened once a day. Walking home from school or I would be in Tesco with my mum and someone would start and I would be like ‘Oh come on that is so not original’.”

“It doesn’t rally happen anymore but occasionally my boyfriend Charlie who is a Jazz musician, if we are at a party, he might play it to annoy me.”

However, the RTE star insisted that you can’t take things “personal” if you want to break into TV presenting.

“You need a thick layer of skin in this business, and I am kind of a softy so it might be hard if I get knockbacks.”

“But you really can’t take things personally. It is never personal in this business. It is just about whether you are the right person for the job or not.”

“Luckily I haven’t experienced any really bad feedback so far.”
