TV3 offered a MILLION euro to buy rights to Celebrity Big Brother – but were turned down

TV3 offered a massive one million euro to buy the rights to Celebrity Big Brother — but were turned down.

They offered the cash to bag exclusive Irish rights to the Channel 5 show, which begins its latest series tonight.

Stars including Calum Best, Patsy Kensit and Perez Hilton are set to be entering the house.

However, producer Endemol turned down the offer as it would affect the UK ratings, given so many people tune in from Ireland.

A TV3 source said: “It shows how serious they are about keeping their place at the top table after UTV’s arrival.

“The offer was more than a million for Celebrity Big Brother, but maker Endemol turned it down.

“TV3 thought it would be worth it, especially this year with all the big names going into it.

“But they didn’t want to sell it to an Irish station because they get a lot of Irish viewers.”

However, sources told the Irish Sun that they will be “following up in the future” and are “looking at loads of different shows”.
