TV3 announce Irish version of Gogglebox, Blind Date and Jason Byrne gets his own chat show

TV3 have revealed its autumn schedule.

The station revealed 30 new shows including an Irish version of Gogglebox is in the works.

The popular TV show, which originated on Channel 4, follows couples, friends and families as they watch TV in their living room.

Mark Cagney and Glenda Gilson announced the new TV3 autumn schedule at Dublin’s Mansion House today.

Such shows include Lucy Kennedy’s new dating show Blind Date.

Based on the Cilla Black version, Lucy said she was delighted to land the new show.

“After years of praying and months of begging – I’m going to be presenting my dream gig Blind Date.

“There will be an Irish twist. We are looking for contestants ages from 18 to 88,” she said.

TV3 also announced they have brought night time entertainment show Celebrity Juice off ITV, which will now air on 3e.

Comedian Jason Byrne also revealed he will host a brand new entertainment show.

Called Jason Byrne’s Stap-Tastic Show, the comedian said he will be bringing on celebrity guests.

“It’s a chat show. Celebrities bring in photos of themselves as kids and we’ll have a nice chat about their childhood.

“People in the studio audience will bring in pics of themselves. It will be like one of my live shows, he said.

TV3 also have the rights to the Champions League and Rugby World Cup.

After losing a huge amount of ITV shows to UTV Ireland including Emmerdale, Coronation Street, The Graham Norton Show and The Cube, TV3 revealed:

“Next year for the first time in history more than 50% of programmes will be Irish.”

Goggle Box: An Irish version is coming to TV3

TV3 Chief Executive David McRedmond said the station were working hard to build a future. “We’re making a channel built to last,” he said.

The station announced they will broadcast 30 new original programmes and 8 new entertainment shows.
