Sophie Gradon’s co-star Zara Holland hits out at Love Island producers for lack of aftercare

The former Miss GB has been left "haunted" by the show

Zara Holland has hit out at the producers of Love Island, following the death of her co-star Sophie Gradon.

The 22-year-old, who starred in the 2016 series alongside Sophie, has claimed that show bosses didn’t provide enough aftercare for contestants.

Zara hit headlines during her stint on Love Island, after her Miss Great Britain title was stripped from her for having sex on the show – and she’s admitted that she’s still “haunted” by the repercussions.

She told The Sun, “I changed as a person, I didn’t want to go out or socialise, I came out of Love Island and they didn’t contact me.”

“Love Island called me for the first time in two years on Thursday to ask if I was OK, funny they call me now when something terrible has happened,” she revealed.

“People applying need to know how serious things can be, they see a claim to fame, they don’t see that in ten years’ time, when you’re married with babies, you’ll still be haunted for the rest of your life.”

Zara also admitted that she’s currently on anti-depressants, two years after appearing on the show.

Zara sat alongside Sophie in her final press interview before her tragic death, which was recorded by Radio Aire about three months ago.

The pair spoke about the negative affects of social media, and how online trolls have affected their lives.

During the interview, Sophie hauntingly noted, “The harsh reality is, it can end up with that person taking their own life.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Love Island told MailOnline, “All of our islanders are offered psychological support before, during and after their time in the villa. We take our duty of care very seriously and this is always our top priority.”

Sophie, who was also a former Miss Great Britain, was found dead at her parent’s house last Wednesday.

Just months before her death, Sophie had opened up about her battle with anxiety and depression.

Sophie’s cause of death is currently unconfirmed, but police are not treating it as suspicious.
