Soap stars confirmed for RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars

Two soap stars have been confirmed for RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars.

While comedian Des Bishop has already revealed that he would be donning his dancing shoes for the much-anticipated show come January, Love/Hate star Denise McCormack and former Fair City actress Aoibhin Garrihy have now been confirmed for the show.

The telly babes are set to join famed news reporter Teresa Mannion, as well as Big Brother star Hughie Maughan and Sunday Game host Des Cahill.

Speaking to the Irish Sun ahead of the show, Denise said, “I am thrilled to be taking part in Dancing with the Stars, It’s such a privilege as I have always loved dancing, I did a bit as a kid but to learn it professionally is a whole new challenge.”

Meanwhile, Aoibhin gushed, “I am so delighted to be involved in the very first Irish Dancing with the Stars and all its glittering glory!

“As an actor, the opportunity to learn a completely new art form in a very short space of time is both an exciting and nerve-racking concept! So far, the experience has been amazing and I’m really enjoying every minute of it! Here’s to a delightful few months of dancing!”

Eleven celebrities will take part in the show, which will be hosted by Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram, and it is scheduled to air from January 8th, over 12 weeks.

The identities of the five remaining contestants will be revealed on Monday, and Irish model Thalia Heffernan is expected on the line-up.
